KOTA KINABALU: Head of State Tun Musa Aman, in his Malaysia Day address on Monday, reminded Malaysians of the spirit of unity that gave birth to the nation 62 years ago.
He said Malaysia, formed on Sept 16, 1963, was built on understanding and a shared vision of a stronger future.
Musa highlighted Malaysia’s rich cultural and religious diversity, stressing it must remain a strength that binds the nation.
He said Sabah and Sarawak played a vital role in shaping Malaysia’s political stability, economic growth, and cultural richness.
The Head of State acknowledged that more must be done in Sabah to close economic gaps and improve people’s welfare.
He said development should reach all corners of the state to ensure that no one is left behind.
Musa added that Sabah’s example of tolerance and harmony should continue to guide Malaysia’s unity.
He urged leaders to rise above narrow interests and avoid exploiting race or religion for political gain.
He also expressed sympathy for families affected by the recent floods and urged communities to help each other recover.
Musa concluded by calling on Malaysians to renew their commitment to solidarity, justice, and prosperity this Malaysia Day.
