TYT’s birthday: 200 kids treated to tea ceremony

Kota Kinabalu: Some 200 children were treated to a tea ceremony at Istana Seri Kinabalu, in conjuction with Head of State Tun Juhar Mahiruddin’s birthday.

At the event, Tun Juhar presented financial assistance of RM1,000 to nine welfare institutions in Sabah, namely Sembulan Educational Centre for Children with Disabilities, Cheshire Sabah Home and Service Association, Asnaf As-Sakinah Orphanage and Sabah Society For The Deaf.

The Community Rehabilitation Organisation of Tanjung Aru, Kota Kinabalu and Lok Kawi Camp also received financial assistance together with Pekan Tuaran Special Education School and Kota Kinabalu Special Education School.

Six dance performances of various ethnic groups was presented by primary school students from the National School (SK) Pekan Nabawan, SK Lingga Baru (High Performance School) Tuaran and National Type School (SJK) (C) St James, SK Kolapis, SK Jambongan and SK Bundu Apin-Apin.

A singing performance from students of SK Padang Berempah, Sipitang, Qahirah Maisyarah Syahlil and students of SK Lahad Datu 2, Sham Badrin Embakri were also held.

Birthday cakes and gifts were also distributed by Juhar’s consort, Toh Puan Datuk Seri Panglima Norlidah R.M Jasni to the children present.

Also present were Deputy Chief Minister III as Chairman of the Main Committee for the 69th Official Birthday of the State President, Datuk Seri Panglima Dr. Joachim Gunsalam and the Minister of Community Development and People’s Welfare, Datuk Ir. Shahelmey Yahya.
