Kota Kinabalu: About 1,000 students, parents and teachers of Tzu Yu attended the kindergarten’s first Chinese New Year celebrations after the pandemic. Tzu Yu has been hosting the annual celebrations since its establishment in 1961.

But this year there was no lion dance performance. Instead, kids from all religious and racial backgrounds danced, sang and showcased their talent much to the endearment of their parents.

Tzu Yu and Sabah Chinese Women’s Association Chairperson, Wong Ing Hung said she kept thinking of their last Chinese New Year celebration in February 2020, where soon after large gatherings were banned.
