U Mobile has launched SIM-based Phone Number Verification (PNV) on its ULTRA5G network, in partnership with Telenor Linx. The service lets businesses and developers verify users without making them wait for an SMS One-Time Password and type it in by hand.
With this, supported services authenticate the user directly through the network, which should make registration, login, and identity verification smoother while also helping with fraud prevention.
The partnership with Telenor Linx also extends the service to developers who use Google Firebase, which puts U Mobile’s verification capability in front of a much wider developer ecosystem.
For U Mobile, this is also a push further into the digital identity space, addressing growing demand for SIM-based authentication from businesses, developers, and digital service providers.
