U Mobile recognised as Malaysia’s fastest 5G network in second half of 2025

BARCELONA: U Mobile has been named the fastest 5G network in Malaysia for its network performance in Q3 and Q4 2025 by Ookla, the global leader in network intelligence.

The Ookla Speedtest Award recognised U Mobile for delivering the fastest 5G speeds nationwide, based on real-world user tests conducted in the second half of 2025.

U Mobile leads the pack in Malaysia with a speed score of 62.79, followed by Unifi (62.26), Celcom (61.01) and Digi (60.97).

On the regional front, U Mobile trails Singapore’s Singtel (70.87) but is ahead of AIS of Thailand (54.23) and Indonesia’s XLSmart (45.85).

“U Mobile is delighted to be recognised by Ookla, and it is especially meaningful as the results are based on real-world user experience,” said U Mobile chief technology officer, Woon Ooi Yuen.

“The company has always invested heavily in our network infrastructure and that applies to our 5G network too.

“We have deployed advanced technologies such as 64 transmitters and 64 receivers (64T64R) and Extremely Large Antenna Array (ELAA) to bring richer digital experiences for consumers, while having the capability to empower enterprises across various verticals with the reliability, security and low latency required for mission-critical applications.”

Woon added that U Mobile will continue to invest in, enhance and upgrade its 5G network.

“Together with our technology partners, we will strive to deliver the most superior ULTRA5G experience to our customers. As a Malaysian company, we are also looking to leverage our 5G strengths to drive digital transformation in the country in line with the 13th Malaysia Plan.”
