Atalanta want to buy outright Chelsea midfielder Mario Pasalic.
Gazzetta dello Sport says Atalanta management have seen enough from Pasalic to seek to deal him in permanently.
Pasalic is in his second season with the Oribici on-loan.
The Serie A club, which is playing in the Champions League this season, will start negotiations with Chelsea towards the end of the season.
Pasalic has a contract with Chelsea which runs to the summer of 2022.
