Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe says the club were awaiting scan results on the foot of injured winger Arnaut Danjuma.
The summer signing from Club Brugge was ruled out of Saturday's 1-1 draw with Sheffield United after he suffered an injury in the final preseason friendly against Lyon last week.
Howe told the Daily Echo: "He had done no training with us.
"He played the game last week and just felt a pain on the bottom of his foot on Monday morning.
"Immediately he went for some scans and we are still assessing the injury."
When asked about the injury itself, Howe added: "It's absolutely bizarre.
"He (Danjuma) had a full medical and all the scans were clear and he has (now) picked up this problem.
"We don't know how serious it is but we hope to get him back very quickly."
