Burnley boss Sean Dyche says Danny Drinkwater is pushing for a call-up.

The on-loan Chelsea midfielder is fully recovered after being injured in a nightclub clash earlier this season.

Ahead of facing Manchester City in midweek, Dyche said: "Danny Drinkwater was close to starting on Saturday. He's looked sharp.

"He's certainly put enough effort and energy into the reserve games. But we've got a lot of players here that we trust and he's got to forge his way into that."

On out of form City, Dyche added: I don't think it's frailties.

"At that level, if you get two or three injuries, the little details can affect the way a team operates.

"They've got players to come in so I'm not crying for them but it can affect it."
