A 33-YEAR-OLD female lecturer from Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) Pahang was found drowned in the swimming pool of a hotel here yesterday evening.

Deputy Chief of Kemaman District Police, DSP Wan Muhamad Wan Ja'afar, said police were alerted to the incident by a member of the public at around 7.10 pm.

The victim, Nurhazwani Abd Halim, a lecturer at the Academy of Language Studies, had checked into the hotel earlier that day at 4 pm with her husband.

“She was said to have entered the pool with her husband at about 4.30 pm, and was discovered to have drowned approximately an hour later,” he said in a statement.

Nur Hazwani was the daughter of Datuk Abd Halim Jusoh, a former Member of the Terengganu State Legislative Assembly for Permaisuri.

Her body was taken to Kemaman Hospital for a post-mortem examination to determine the cause of death. - October12, 2025
