- Two Iranian nationals, Salam Ahmadyan and Rahman Salehi, have been charged with preparing terrorist acts after being arrested in Manchester over an alleged bomb plot targeting local Jewish communities.
- Counter Terrorism Policing allege the suspects acquired instructions and components for a homemade explosive device, conducted reconnaissance, and communicated with an overseas third party potentially located in Iran.
- Home Secretary Shabana Mahmood revealed that both men entered the UK via small boat Channel crossings several years ago, with one having been granted asylum and the other holding an active claim.
- Ms Mahmood stated that the UK faces serious ongoing threats from the Iranian regime, which uses criminal networks and proxies to target Jewish communities and silence overseas critics.
- In response to the revelations regarding the suspects' arrival in the UK, Reform UK leader Nigel Farage declared a national border emergency and called for stricter immigration controls.
