- People applying for jobs in farming and agriculture are more likely to secure a role than jobseekers in any other sector, with an average of just seven applicants per vacancy, according to new research from Hiscox.
- Education, sport and fitness, health, and skilled trades also ranked among the least competitive sectors as UK job vacancies hit a five-year low.
- While farming offered under 2,000 open roles, social care had over 100,000 live roles.
- Applicant numbers per vacancy more than doubled in animal care and policing, while advertising saw a 40 per cent year-on-year increase.
- Nick Thornhill, partnerships director at Hiscox, said: “These figures show just how varied the UK job market has become. For jobseekers, the good news is that some sectors are now less competitive, offering a better chance of standing out.”
