British Prime Minister Keir Starmer offers Bahrain defensive air cover from UK jets deployed to Qatar, following recent Iranian attacks in the Gulf.
LONDON: British Prime Minister Keir Starmer has told the King of Bahrain that four UK jets deployed to Qatar could be used to help defend the kingdom from Iranian missile and drone strikes.
According to a readout from Starmer’s office, the offer was made during a call with King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa.
“The Prime Minister also offered further defensive air cover from these jets for Bahrain to bolster their security,” the statement said.
“His majesty welcomed the confirmation, and they agreed operational teams would work together on plans in the coming days.”
The discussion follows a series of recent Iranian strikes against targets in Gulf states.
