Three more individuals arrested in London over arson attack on Jewish volunteer ambulances, with police treating the incident as an antisemitic hate crime.

LONDON: Police have arrested three more people in connection with an arson attack on four volunteer ambulances run by a Jewish organisation in London.

Two British men, aged 19 and 20, and a 17-year-old dual British-Pakistani national were detained at separate addresses in east London on Wednesday.

They were arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to commit arson with intent to endanger life, according to a statement from the capital’s Metropolitan Police.

Two men in their 40s were released on bail last week following the March 23 fire.

The ambulances, which were parked next to a synagogue in the Golders Green area of northwest London, were set alight while unoccupied.

Operated by the Hatzola volunteer organisation, the vehicles provide free medical transportation and emergency response in north London.

Nobody was physically hurt in the incident, which police are treating as an antisemitic hate crime.

While not currently declared a terror offence, counter-terrorism officers are leading the investigation into the attack.

A little-known Islamist group with possible links to Iran, Harakat Ashab al-Yamin al-Islamiya (HAYI), has claimed responsibility for the arson.

The group, meaning The Islamic Movement of the People of the Right Hand, has also claimed responsibility for similar attacks in Belgium and the Netherlands.
