UK stargazers to be treated to stunning displays in coming months

  • The Pleiades star cluster, also known as the Seven Sisters, will become prominent in the eastern autumn sky within the Taurus constellation.
  • The Orionid meteor shower, created by debris from Halley’s comet, is active and will reach its peak display around 21 October.
  • A planetary parade featuring Mercury, Venus, Mars and Jupiter will align in the early morning sky before sunrise on 14 November.
  • The fast-moving Leonid meteor shower is set to peak around 17 November, offering up to 15 visible meteors per hour under clear conditions.
  • Autumn celestial events will conclude with November's Beaver Moon, a supermoon reaching its full phase on 24 November.
