Britons are due for another week of warm and dry weather, with parts of the south set to bake throughout the week.
The capital is expected to see the best of the sunshine on Wednesday, where the Met Office has forecast a high of 28C.
Elsewhere in the south of England and Wales, highs of 27C are expected for most of the week.
Met Office forecaster Tom Morgan said: “Winds will be light, so when you do see that sunshine break through the cloud, it will still feel pretty warm.”
Monday will be dry for most of the country, but some light rain is expected in Northern Ireland and parts of Scotland in the morning, before it dies away in the afternoon.
The best of the sunshine will be around mainland Scotland, Wales, western England, and the southwest of England, the Met Office said.
Temperatures will climb to the mid-20s in these areas, with a high of 27C forecast in Herefordshire.
Overnight, some rural parts of Scotland could see temperatures fall to 7C.
More sunshine is forecast for the UK on Tuesday, where highs of 25C are expected across much of the south of England.
Peak temperatures will be felt in London on Wednesday, with forecasting platform WXCharts expecting 28C in the afternoon.
“Overall it will be brighter than on Monday for northeastern parts of England, East Anglia, and the southeast,” Mr Morgan said.
“It will be quite a settled period over the next few days and that theme continues through the middle of the week.
“[There will be] plenty of sunshine, particularly in the south, and with it being July and the sunshine being strong, very high levels of UV are expected.”
Highs in the low to mid twenties are forecast across the country for the rest of the week and into the beginning of next week before cooler weather arrives.
By next Wednesday, temperatures are expected to drop to the mid-teens for Scotland and northern parts of England and continue to stay cool for the rest of the week.
