Poland is carrying out an investigation after a Russian missile landed in its territory, president Donald Tusk said on Thursday.
“All the indications are that it was a Russian Kh-101 ballistic missile, but we want to be 100 per cent certain about the type of missile and who launched it," Tusk said during a specially convened meeting on the issue.
Polish police said they found a 10m-wide crater and scattered debris in a field left by an unidentified object that disappeared from army radars tracking it in domestic airspace.
At least 8 people, including three children, have been killed across Ukraine after Russia launched a wave of ballistic missiles and drones across the country, hours after Volodymyr Zelensky warned of an impending “massive attack” by Moscow.

While the capital has seen metro stations become a popular alternative to traditional shelters, there are not enough to accommodate Kyiv’s three million residents.
Dmytro Dichenko, a 30-year-old musician and marketing specialist, shared his experience after he tried to seek shelter at a metro station last year: "Metro security treats people as if they are going there for fun."
Dichenko and his wife were turned away by security between waves of strikes.
Missiles had reached the city once they got back home.
Since then, they mostly stay at home during a Russian attacks, as Dichenko's prosthesis makes it hard for him to run.
But Dichenko's experience is by no means unique.
Without adequate shelter provision, many residents across Ukraine have resorted to sleeping in underground parking lots, or relocating to basements — a choice that risks being buried under rubble.
For others, the only option is to stay in a bathroom or a corridor, with zero protection from a direct hit.
"The situation with shelters is very poor, given that we are now in the fifth year of the war.
"As a result, we are seeing a higher number of civilian casualties, " Dichenko emphasised.

On Thursday a record 56,000 Ukrainian residents sought shelter in a metro station.
Vitali Klitschko, Kyiv's mayor, has said that city authorities have set aside over 1.1 billion hryvnias ($24.51 million) this year to repair `shelters, adding that since the start of Russia's invasion in February 2022, they had spent 7 billion hryvnias.
