Donald Trump said he was not considering giving Tomahawk missiles to Ukraine for carrying out strikes inside Russia, at least for now.
“No, not really," Trump told reporters as he flew to Washington from Palm Beach, Florida, when asked whether he was considering a deal to sell the missiles. He added, however, that he could change his mind.
Trump has publicly toyed with the idea of providing the long-range missiles to Ukraine, saying that Volodymyr Zelensky would like him to add Tomahawks to Kyiv's arsenal. Tomahawk missiles have a range of 2,500km, enough to strike deep inside Russia, including Moscow.
Trump and Nato secretary general Mark Rutte discussed the Tomahawk idea when they met at the White House on 22 October. Rutte said on Friday that the issue was under review and that it was up to the US to decide.
The US president's statement came as Ukraine’s military chief said his troops were battling “multi-thousand" enemy forces in key frontline town Pokrovsk in the Donetsk oblast.
Oleksandr Syrskyi said elite special forces had been deployed to defend key supply lines facing Russian fire.

Trump warned Ukraine war is creating ‘significant risks’ for US economy

The ongoing war in Ukraine is creating “significant risks” to the US economy and is costing American firms billions in lost opportunities, a report by influential economists has warned.
The Center for Freedom and Prosperity paper by Daniel J. Mitchell and Robert O’Quinn also claims that the continuation of the conflict threatens the US dollar's status as the world’s reserve currency.
Russia and China want to end this so-called “exorbitant privilege” that sees most countries use the dollar for international trade and are using the war and trade tensions to undermine America’s position, the report argues.
The analysis also highlights a staggering $520bn opportunity for American firms in rebuilding Ukraine, alongside reclaiming $100bn in lost energy ventures like ExxonMobil’s Arctic projects.

Donald Trump said for now, he is not considering a deal that would allow Ukraine to obtain long-range Tomahawk missiles for use against Russia.
Without promising, Trump has been okay with the US to sell Tomahawks to Nato nations that would transfer them to Ukraine, saying he does not want to escalate the war.
Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelensky has long requested the missiles, but the Kremlin has warned against any provision of Tomahawks to Ukraine.
"No, not really," Trump told reporters as he flew to Washington from Palm Beach, Florida, when asked whether he was considering a deal to sell the missiles. He added, however, that he could change his mind.
His latest comments to reporters aboard Air Force One indicate that he remains reluctant.

Kyiv is preparing for new drone and long-range strikes on Russian energy infrastructure that could lead to widespread blackouts in Russia, Robert Brovdi, commander of Ukraine’s drone systems forces, said yesterday.
The attacks would force Russian regions to adapt to disruptions in power supply, Brovdi wrote on Facebook.
"Blackouts are not scary. They’re just a bit inconvenient… The birds of the drone systems forces, together with other components of Ukraine’s deep strike capabilities, promise you a rapid, if somewhat forced, adaptation," he said, referring to drones as "free Ukrainian birds".
The drone force commander said Russia would increasingly face fuel shortages as gas and oil reserves were "burning fast".

President Donald Trump said he was not really considering giving Ukraine long-range Tomahawk missiles.
Asked by a reporter aboard Air Force One if he was not considering providing the weapons to Ukraine, Trump responded: "No, not really."
In October, Trump said he would provide Kyiv with Tomahawks. He told reporters on Air Force One "We'll see... I may". The missiles would be "a new step of aggression" in Ukraine's war with Russia, he said.

Russian authorities said two foreign vessels had been damaged in the attack on Tuapse, one of the biggest oil terminals on the Black Sea, sparking a fire.
But the operational headquarters said that there were no casualties among the crews of the ships.
They added all fires had been extinguished but that "the buildings and infrastructure of the terminal" had sustained damage.
In Russia, drone debris was found in five settlements in Tuapse, damaging windows in some flats and houses. No injuries were reported, though the Tuapse railway station suffered some minor damage, the regional administration said.
The overnight attack forced the temporary closure of scores of Russian airports, in the country's south and west, for safety reasons, Russia's aviation watchdog Rosaviatsiya said on Telegram.
Kyiv says its drone strikes against Russian energy infrastructure are retaliation for Russian attacks on its power grid.
Nearly 60,000 people were deprived of power supply after Russia's overnight air attack on Ukraine's frontline region of Zaporizhzhia, while two people were killed in the southern region of Odesa, Ukrainian authorities said on Sunday.

The Russian Defence Ministry said on Sunday air defence units destroyed a total of 283 Ukrainian drones. There was no immediate comment from Ukraine about the attack.
Kyiv says its drone strikes against Russian energy infrastructure are retaliation for Russian attacks on its power grid. Russia has been pounding the power and heating infrastructure of Ukraine.
Nearly 60,000 people were deprived of power supply after Russia's overnight air attack on Ukraine's frontline region of Zaporizhzhia, while two people were killed in the southern region of Odesa, Ukrainian authorities said on Sunday.

Ukraine's forces carried out a drone attack on the Tuapse oil terminal, an official from Ukraine's SBU domestic security service said on Sunday. The official said five drone strikes had hit an oil tanker, loading infrastructure and nearby port buildings.
The port is home to the Tuapse Black Sea oil terminal and a Rosneft-controlled oil refinery, which Ukraine has targeted with several drone strikes this year.
It was not immediately known if the terminal was operating after the attack, which the administration said damaged its buildings and other infrastructure.
The export-oriented Tuapse plant, which has a processing capacity of 240,000 barrels of oil per day (bpd), produces naphtha, fuel oil, vacuum gasoil and high-sulphur diesel.
It mainly supplies China, Malaysia, Singapore and Turkey.

A Ukrainian drone attack damaged at least two foreign vessels and the oil terminal infrastructure at Russia's key Black Sea port of Tuapse on Sunday, as Kyiv tries to undermine Russia's war effort by targeting its energy infrastructure.
Ukraine has for several months been striking Russian oil refineries, depots and pipelines in a bid to undermine the Russian economy, and some media have reported that Western intelligence agencies have helped Kyiv with the strikes.
Russian authorities said two foreign vessels were damaged in the attack on Tuapse, one of the biggest oil terminals on the Black Sea, sparking a fire.
"As a result of the drone attack on the port of Tuapse on the night of November 2, two foreign civilian ships were damaged," the emergency operational headquarters of the Krasnodar region said in a statement.
Unverified footage on Russian and Ukrainian Telegram news channels appeared to show a terminal and a tanker ablaze at night. Reuters could not independently verify the reports.
The operational headquarters said that there were no casualties among the crews of the ships and that all fires had been extinguished but that "the buildings and infrastructure of the terminal" had sustained damage.

Kremlin suggests Putin-Trump meet not 'what is needed'

"Painstaking work" of diplomacy, and not a meeting between Russian president Vladimir Putin and his US counterpart Donald Trump, is needed to resolve the situation in Ukraine, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said today, according to Russian news agency Tass.
"At the moment, what is needed is very painstaking work on the details of the settlement," Mr Peskov was quoted as saying by Tass.
The Kremlin's statement comes following the cancellation of a planned meeting between the two leaders in Budapest next month, after US officials reviewed Russia’s conditions.
Russian officials sent a formal memo of their demands to end the war in Ukraine, which included sweeping concessions on sanctions and recognition of its territorial claims.

Russian troops are making advances in central and southeastern Pokrovsk, dubbed the "gateway to Donetsk".
Since 2024, Moscow has attempted to gain full control of Donetsk, but Kyiv still holds a section of the region.

An unidentified drone was spotted over the Kleine Brogel Air Base in Belgium yesterday, the second such sighting in the last 24 hours.
The incident came just hours after several drones were spotted over the air base on Friday, according to the Belgian defence minister Theo Francken.
These reports come amid a sudden rise in mysterious drone sightings across Europe in recent months, causing air traffic disruptions in France, Czechia, Germany, Lithuania, Norway and Denmark, among other European countries.
Some of these incidents were preceded by Russian aircraft and drones violating Nato airspace on several occasions.
Poland shot down Russian drones entering its airspace in September, and days later, another of Moscow's drones breached Romanian territory.
In the latest case in Belgium, no specific details on the incident have emerged, and the type of drone involved also remains unclear.

A Ukrainian drone attack set ablaze the Russian port of Tuapse and an oil tanker, the administration of Russia's southern region of Krasnodar said today.
"In the port of Tuapse, fragments of UAVs (unmanned aerial vehicles) fell on an oil tanker, damaging the deck superstructure," the administration said in a statement.
"A fire broke out on the vessel. The crew were evacuated," it said.
The port is a key outlet for Russia's crude and refined products to reach international markets so its disruption is likely to impact the country's exports.
Kyiv has intensified strikes on Russian refineries, depots and pipelines in recent months to strain Moscow's fuel supplies and profits that help fund its war effort.
