President Zelenskiy imposes sanctions on foreign companies supplying components for Russian missiles and drones used in attacks on Ukraine.

KYIV: Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy has imposed sanctions on foreign manufacturers of components for Russian drones and missiles. The move targets companies that enable Russia to circumvent international sanctions.

“Producing this weaponry would be impossible without critical foreign components,” Zelenskiy stated on social media platform X. He confirmed signing the relevant decrees to sanction component suppliers and manufacturers.

The published decrees list several Chinese companies among the targets. Firms from former Soviet states, the United Arab Emirates and Panama are also included.

Russia has intensified missile and drone strikes on Ukraine in recent months. These attacks have focused heavily on Ukraine’s energy and logistics infrastructure.

Zelenskiy reported that Russia launched over 2,000 attack drones in the past week. It also fired 1,200 guided aerial bombs and 116 missiles of various types.

Strikes on power stations have caused widespread blackouts across regions. The capital Kyiv has experienced power cuts lasting up to 20 hours.

The new sanctions also target Russia’s financial sector. Bodies supporting the Russian cryptocurrency market and mining operations are included.
