A Ukrainian drone attack in Russian-occupied Zaporizhzhia killed one woman and injured over 10 people, as cross-border strikes escalate on both sides.
KYIV: An overnight Ukrainian drone attack killed one person and injured more than 10 others in the Russian-occupied southern Zaporizhzhia region, according to Moscow-installed authorities.
Vasylivka municipality official Natalia Romanichenko confirmed to Russia’s state news agency TASS that a woman’s body was found and over 10 people were wounded in the strike.
A video posted on social media site VK showed firefighters extinguishing a burning residential building reportedly hit by the drone.
In a separate incident, a Russian strike on the village of Velyka Babka in Ukraine’s northeastern Kharkiv region wounded three people.
Ukraine’s emergency service stated on Telegram that Russian forces carried out a targeted strike on emergency services, with an initial drone setting a house on fire before a second hit the responding fire engine.
The attack followed a volley of Russian missiles and drones from Friday to Saturday that killed 12 people in Ukraine, including at least 10 in Kharkiv when a missile struck a five-storey apartment building.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said on social media that Russia had launched nearly 1,750 attack drones, 1,530 guided aerial bombs, and 39 missiles over the past week.
