Germany great Lothar Matthaus is urging Borussia Dortmund to burn off Manchester United in competiton for two major transfers.
Juventus pair Mario Mandzukic and Emre Can are both January targets for United.
However, Matthaus believes Dortmund should be bringing both players back to the Bundesliga to immediately give their season chances a jolt.
He explained in BILD: "I'm not really a fan of winter transfers at all. But BVB would have to gamble now. And I'm thinking specifically of two players. Emre Can and Mario Mandzukic.
"They both have this absolute will to win something and have already done that nationally and internationally.
"And I know they're ready for such a transfer and they're available for a reasonable price."
