KOTA KINABALU: The Ulu Padas Dam is set for completion by December 2030, promising stable electricity for Sabah and Labuan with a 25pc reserve margin, and a water supply scheme to meet needs for up to 100 years.

Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor said the RM4.65 billion project, led by Gamuda Berhad (45pc), is progressing steadily under Sabah’s Energy Commission.

The State owns 40pc through Sabah Energy Corporation, while Kerjaya Kagum Hitech JV, now a 15pc stakeholder, remains involved.

The project includes potential for 200MW of floating solar, eco-tourism, fisheries, and forest research. SEC is expected to earn over RM3 billion in dividends across 40 years.

Hajiji rejected claims of failure by Kerjaya Kagum Hitech JV, citing the project's evolution and stability under a Public-Private Partnership model, with private partners bearing full responsibility and the State acting as strategic overseer.
