A witness testified the father of the Ulu Tiram police station attacker claimed it was “halal” to shed the blood of police, soldiers, and government officials
KUALA LUMPUR: The father of the Ulu Tiram police station attacker told a fellow detainee that shedding the blood of security forces was “halal”.
This testimony was given by Muhamad Farhan Haiqim Mohd Isa, 24, during the High Court trial of five family members linked to the May 2024 attack.
The university student said first accused Radin Imran Radin Mohd Yassin, 64, made the statement while they were detained together at the Seri Alam Police lock-up.
“He suddenly broke down and said he was upset because his son did not invite him to join the attack,” Muhamad Farhan recounted.
The witness said Radin Imran claimed he rarely left home but had a duty to wage jihad to spread his beliefs when he did.
Muhamad Farhan also testified that Radin Imran expressed an intention to kill his own brother for refusing to follow his teachings.
The witness was at the Ulu Tiram police station on May 17, 2024, to lodge a sexual harassment report with his former girlfriend.
He described seeing a masked man in black enter the station compound on a motorcycle before an officer went to check on him.
“About 15 minutes later, I heard loud screams,” said Muhamad Farhan, who then hid under a table with his companion.
He recounted hearing several gunshots before calling the emergency hotline and later being escorted from the scene.
Two police constables were killed and another officer was injured in the early morning attack.
The attacker, 21-year-old Radin Luqman, was shot dead at the scene.
Radin Imran faces four charges including promoting terrorist ideology and supporting terrorist acts.
His wife Rosna Jantan, 61, is charged with failing to provide information on terrorist ideology.
Their other children Radin Romyullah, 36, Farhah Sobrina, 25, and Mariah, 20, also face terrorism-related charges.
The trial before Judge Nurulhuda Nur’aini Mohamad Nor continues.
