
KUALA LUMPUR – Sg Besar Umno chief Datuk Seri Jamal Md Yunos has been acquitted of two charges of sharing offensive and menacing content at the Ampang sessions court today.
Judge Wan Mohd Norisham Wan Yaakob said the prosecution failed to establish prima facie evidence against Jamal.
For his first and second charges, Jamal was accused of consciously uploading two videos with the intention of offending others at Taman Dagang Avenue, Ampang near here.
The offences were allegedly committed through Jamal’s Facebook page at 10am and 3pm on August 19 last year.
The charges come under Section 233 (1)(a) of the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission Act 1998) (Act 588) and is punishable under Section 233 (3) of the same Act, which provides for a maximum fine of RM50,000 or imprisonment not exceeding one year or both, if convicted.
