An ‘Alhamdulillah’ post by Umno sec-gen Asyraf Wajdi sparks speculation as the Pardons Board meets to reconsider Najib Razak’s pardon application.

KUALA LUMPUR: A brief “Alhamdulillah” post by UMNO secretary-general Datuk Dr Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki on Facebook this morning has triggered speculation, with many wondering whether it was linked to the Pardons Board meeting being held today to consider former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak’s application for a pardon.

The Federal Territories Pardons Board is meeting at Istana Negara today to reconsider Najib’s application, a week after its consideration was postponed at its previous meeting on Sept 11.

The application is reported to be the sole item on the board’s agenda for today’s meeting.

Meanwhile, Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Federal Territories) Hannah Yeoh was seen leaving Istana Negara this morning after attending the meeting.

Her vehicle was reportedly seen leaving the palace grounds at about 9.43am, nearly two hours after she arrived at 7.48am.

Hannah, however, left without making any statement to the media, who had been waiting outside Gate Two of Istana Negara since 7am.

The vehicle believed to be carrying Attorney-General Tan Sri Mohd Dusuki Mokhtar had yet to be seen leaving Istana Negara at the time of writing.

The meeting has attracted significant attention after the board postponed consideration of Najib’s application at its Sept 11 meeting. No official announcement on today’s decision had been made as of the latest reports.
