KUALA LUMPUR – Umno leaders should consider the possibility of working with Pakatan Harapan (PH) to form the federal government for the country’s future.
Speaking to Malay Mail, Petaling Jaya Umno division youth chief Azlan Abu Bakar suggested the move as part of the party’s first step toward reforming itself.
“In my opinion, the first step of proper party reform should start with working together with PH for the sake of the people and the country to have a stable government.
“Opting to work with PN (Perikatan Nasional) will likely be a repeat of what has been happening for the past few years.
“And since PH has managed to win the highest number of seats, it means that people prefer PH administration rather than a PN coalition government,” he was quoted as saying.
As such, Azlan opined that Umno’s leaders should set aside their differences and personal egos to form the federal government in line with the people’s mandate.
It is learnt that Umno’s central leadership is currently meeting at the party’s headquarters to discuss their next move, in either working with PH or PN.
This came after BN only managed to secure 30 parliamentary seats in pale comparison to PN and PH, which secured 73 and 82, respectively, following yesterday’s polls. – The Vibes, November 20, 2022
