The proprietor of a tour and umrah agency, Muzzamil Soliheen Musa, aged 47, entered a plea of not guilty at the Sessions Court today, facing charges of defrauding a 53-year-old man in connection to an umrah package during the previous year. The alleged incident unfolded at his agency in Nilai between January 23 and January 30, 2023, where Muzzamil Soliheen supposedly duped the individual into parting with a substantial sum of RM115,030.

In response to the charges, Sessions Judge Mohamad Kamil Nizam imposed bail at RM12,000, requiring one surety for the accused. Furthermore, additional stringent conditions were set, including monthly reporting to the local police station, surrendering his passport to the court, and a prohibition from interfering with witnesses until the case reaches its resolution.

Simultaneously, at the Magistrates’ Court, Muzzamil Soliheen faced another set of charges, pleading not guilty to deceiving a 31-year-old woman who handed over RM51,330 for a similar umrah purpose. This purported incident occurred at a different company between January 13 and February 23, 2023. In response, Magistrate Nurul Saqinah Rosli established a bail amount of RM2,000, requiring one surety.

Both charges lodged against Muzzamil Soliheen fall under Section 420 of the Penal Code, carrying potential penalties of a minimum one-year prison term and a maximum of 10 years, coupled with the possibility of whipping and a fine if a conviction is secured.

Scheduled case mentions for both instances are set for March 11 and 12, respectively, providing a timeline for the legal proceedings to unfold. The accused faces a legal battle on two fronts, with the outcome of these cases having potential repercussions on his future. The legal system will now undertake the task of impartially examining the evidence and arguments presented in order to determine the veracity of the charges against Muzzamil Soliheen Musa.
