KOTA KINABALU: Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS) has decided not to reduce student fees despite demands from Suara Mahasiswa, citing the need to channel funds into resolving the campus water supply crisis.
“The decision is based on long-term interest. Addressing the water issue has a bigger impact compared to a temporary fee reduction,” said UMS vice-chancellor Prof Datuk Dr Kasim Haji Mansor.
He stressed that tuition fees are already subsidised by over 90pc and assured students that UMS, with ministry support, is committed to improving facilities and safeguarding student welfare.
