If there’s one thing Uncle Roger, the comedic fried rice connoisseur, understands, it’s how to keep his nieces and nephews laughing while feeding them delicious fried rice with MSG (Monosodium Glutamate).
And now, he’s bringing that same energy, expanding from Pavilion Bukit Bintang to two new locations in Kuala Lumpur ~ MyTown Shopping Centre and IPC Shopping Centre. The best part? He’s slashed prices speedier than you can shout, “Fuiyoh!”
"Pavilion Prices Don't Fit in Mr DIY Territory"
Nigel Ng, the man behind the Uncle Roger persona, has officially declared a truce with our wallets. A plate of his Special Fry Rice, which once cost RM18, now goes for a friendlier RM16.
Why the sudden price cut? In a TikTok video, Uncle Roger explained it with his signature sass:
“MyTown is not Pavilion. Pavilion has Gucci, Louis Vuitton, and Hermes. MyTown? Mr DIY and F.O.S. How can charge RM18? Too expensive!”
For those unfamiliar with mall dynamics, Uncle Roger summed it up perfectly: “Any shopping mall with Mr DIY smells like plastic.” And honestly, can we argue with that?
Bigger Portions, Bigger Smiles
Not only are prices down, but portions are up! “Malaysians love rice,” Uncle Roger proclaimed, and his larger servings are proof that he knows his audience.
The announcement, naturally, tickled netizens who were equally entertained by his roast of shopping malls and household goods stores.
“Did he just fried MyTown and Mr DIY simultaneously?” wondered one amused TikTok user. Another chimed in with an entrepreneurial idea: “Uncle, open a stall by the roadside and sell it for RM8!”
Flex Your Fried Rice Budget
While the RM16 fried rice is now standard across all Uncle Roger outlets, Nigel teased that pricier menu items will soon make an appearance. “You can buy those to show off your wallet in front of your girlfriend or boyfriend,” he joked. Because nothing says romance quite like premium fried rice.
So, whether you’re team Gucci fried rice or team Mr DIY discounts, Uncle Roger has got you covered. Head over to his new locations, enjoy the laughs, and most importantly, bring your appetite. Just don’t forget to shout “Haiyaa” if your fried rice or the service doesn’t meet expectations.
Tell us whether it’s “Fuiyoh” or “Haiyaa” from all those nieces and nephews who have been there!
