Absence of Negeri Sembilan Undang at assembly opening fuels dispute involving state ruler and leadership

PETALING JAYA: The Undang Yang Empat and the Tunku Besar of Tampin were notably absent from the opening session of the 15th Negeri Sembilan State Legislative Assembly today, amidst an ongoing dispute involving the state ruler.

Traditionally, the four Undang—Datuk Mubarak Dohak (Sungei Ujong), Datuk Maarof Mat Rashad (Jelebu), Datuk Muhammad Abdullah (Johol) and Datuk Abdul Rahim Yasin (Rembau)—alongside the Tunku Besar of Tampin, Tunku Syed Razman Tunku Syed Idrus Al Qadri, attend the prestigious ceremony.

Under established protocol, Tunku Syed Razman is usually the first to enter the assembly hall, followed by the four Undang, as reported by the New Straits Times.

Earlier this morning, the Yang di-Pertuan Besar of Negeri Sembilan, Tuanku Muhriz Tuanku Munawir, arrived at the assembly grounds at 9.35am, accompanied by Tunku Ampuan Besar Tuanku Aishah Rohani Tengku Besar Mahmud.

His Royal Highness inspected a guard of honour comprising three officers and 103 personnel from the 14th Battalion of the Royal Malay Regiment, based at Kem Syed Sirajuddin in Gemas.

Tuanku Muhriz then proceeded into the hall to deliver the royal address, officially marking the opening of the first meeting of the fourth session.

The 36-member assembly, led by Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun, is scheduled to convene for four days beginning today, before resuming on April 27.

Prior to the ceremony, a group gathered outside the gates of Istana Hinggap to express their solidarity with Tuanku Muhriz and Aminuddin.

The group presented a memorandum of support and loyalty on behalf of the Anak Waris, Ibu Soko, Buapak, and Lembaga Adat Luak to both the Ruler and the Menteri Besar.
