Yes, Hong Geum-bo ultimately succeeds in exposing Chairman Kang Pil-beom.

By the time the events of the finale unfold, Geum-bo and her allies have gathered enough evidence and sufficient shareholder support to challenge Chairman Kang’s authority and bring the truth to light.

One of the first major turning points involves Kang No-ra, Chairman Kang’s granddaughter and a shareholder in Hanmin. Although it initially seems like she will side with her family, she shocks everyone by publicly backing the Yeouido Pirates. Her declaration destabilises the chairman’s position and strengthens the case against him.

As pressure mounts, Chairman Kang begins preparing to escape the country. He instructs Song Ju-ran, the secretary-general of Hanmin and his most trusted aide, to arrange an overseas ticket and hide all the evidence related to the slush fund. Ju-ran initially agrees to follow his orders, but as the investigation closes in, she begins considering her own escape plan.

However, when Ju-ran tries to run with the money, Bong Dal-su, a gangster who has long carried out violent tasks for her, including intimidation and murder, intercepts and drags her back to Chairman Kang. The chairman reveals he had been secretly monitoring her through Dal-su, effectively trapping and positioning her as a convenient scapegoat if needed.

Meanwhile, the legal case gains crucial momentum in court. Bang Jin-mok, a Hanmin employee, appears as a surprise witness and testifies that he secretly kept copies of the financial ledgers documenting the company’s illegal slush fund. He also reveals that multiple back-up copies exist. His testimony becomes one of the most significant pieces of proof against Chairman Kang.

At the same time, the police uncover additional crimes connected to Dal-su. During a raid, investigators discover that he has been keeping victims’ personal belongings as trophies. These items indicate he has committed numerous murders. Among them is the wallet of Financial Supervisory Service director Yun Jae-beom’s younger brother, confirming his death was not a suicide, as previously believed.

Geum-bo and her allies then discover that Ju-ran is being held captive inside Chairman Kang’s residence. Using keys provided by No-ra, Geum-bo enters the property and rescues Ju-ran from the basement. When Dal-su arrives and tries to stop them, Geum-bo confronts him and holds him off until the police arrive and arrest him.

Later, Chairman Kang makes one final attempt to escape. Believing his former wife, Choi In-ja, will help him leave the country, he prepares to flee South Korea with her. However, In-ja has secretly decided to cooperate with the authorities after realising the extent of his corruption and cruelty. Instead of driving to the airport, she takes him straight to the police station, where he is arrested — with fake passports and hidden cash in his possession.

With the ledger evidence, Dal-su and Ju-ran’s confessions and the wider criminal investigation closing in, Chairman Kang is ultimately found guilty of multiple offences relating to the slush fund and corruption at Hanmin. His removal from power marks the collapse of the corrupt leadership that Geum-bo had been investigating throughout the series.

Undercover Miss Hong ending explained: What happens in the final moments?

In the final moments of the tvN series, Hanmin begins restructuring. With Chairman Kang removed from power, the company moves towards a fresh start. Cha Jung-il, a senior executive at Hanmin, is selected as the new CEO to stabilise the organisation and restore trust among its employees.

With their mission complete, the Yeouido Pirates disband. The members gradually move on with their lives. Albert Oh, Geum-bo’s colleague and one of her key allies during the investigation, says goodbye to her and begins focusing on his personal life.

Shin Jung-woo, a senior Hanmin executive and former partner of Geum-bo, decides to leave South Korea for the United States.

No-ra follows her passion and becomes a pastry chef. Meanwhile, Kim Mi-sook, who once endured mistreatment at work, grows more confident and now works as an assistant manager at Hanmin.

The story then moves forward to the year 2000. Supervisor Yun Jae-beom from the Financial Supervisory Service proposes assigning Geum-bo to another investigation. Authorities begin to suspect foul play after several individuals connected to an insurance case die while preparing to testify, raising concerns that another major criminal network may be involved.

In the final scene, Geum-bo appears with a new look, preparing to infiltrate another organisation connected to the suspicious insurance case. The ending suggests that, while the Hanmin chapter may have ended, Geum-bo’s fight against corruption and financial crimes is far from over.
