Undocumented Filipino denies threatening to kill ex-wife

Kota Kinabalu: A 49-year-old undocumented Filipino was charged in the Magistrate’s Court here with criminal intimidation for allegedly threatening to kill his former wife.

Al Basir Hajirul pleaded not guilty before Magistrate Wan Farrah Farriza Wan Ghazali to committing the offence at the veranda of a house in Kampung Suang Parai, Manggatal, at about 11am on May 6.

He was accused of threatening to cause death to his former wife, 35-year-old Painalin, with the intention of causing fear to her.

The charge under Section 506 of the Penal Code carries a jail term of up to two years or a fine, or both, on conviction.

The court fixed June 8 for pre-trial case management and ordered the accused to be remanded pending the date.

In another similar case, a 42-year-old woman was also charged with criminal intimidation for allegedly threatening a man.

Kalasiah Andi claimed trial to threatening to cause injury to one Callixson Mantara at a house in Kampung Pulutan, Manggatal, at about 10pm on May 11.

The offence also framed under Section 506 of the Penal Code.

The court fixed July 21 for pre-trial case management.

Pending the date, Kalasiah, who was represented by duty counsel Carmen Khoo, was released on bail of RM2,000 in one surety.
