Kota Kinabalu: A 24-year-old undocumented Filipino was sentenced to 40 years jail and 12 strokes of the cane by the High Court here, Monday, after being found guilty of the murder of a Grab driver in Tuaran five years ago.

Judge Leonard David Shim meted out the sentence on Arsit Indanan after finding that he failed to raise reasonable doubt for murder at the end of the defence case and that the prosecution had proven their case beyond reasonable doubt.

Arsit was found guilty of murdering Mohammad Hanafiee Jaffar, 27, inside a Proton Saga FLX car between 4am and 5am on May 25, 2019, at a roadside of Jalan Marabahai.
