New Delhi [India], June 29 (ANI): Union Health Minister Jagat Prakash Nadda on Monday launched Aarogya Setu 2.0, describing it as a national health application that will serve as a single, citizen-centric digital gateway for accessing a wide range of healthcare services across the country.

According to the Health Ministry, the upgraded platform has been designed to provide seamless access to digital health services under the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM) while enabling citizens to manage their health records through a unified interface.

The new version aims to integrate multiple digital health services into a single platform, reducing the need for citizens to use different applications for various healthcare needs. Through the app, users will be able to access ABDM-enabled services in a streamlined and user-friendly manner.

The strategic rationale for Aarogya Setu 2.0 stems from the growing maturity of India's digital health ecosystem under the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM). With foundational components such as the Ayushman Bharat Health Account (ABHA) already operational at scale, the next challenge is enhancing citizen awareness and adoption of these digital health services. However, the complexity of multiple platforms and services has necessitated a simple, trusted and widely accessible entry point for users.

In this context, Aarogya Setu 2.0 is positioned as a single, citizen-centric digital gateway that enables access to a wide range of health services. It is also designed to function as a trusted personal health record system for individuals and families, while simultaneously serving as a national awareness and adoption platform for ABDM-enabled services. With a user base of nearly 20 crore downloads and a continuous inflow of new users, the application provides a significant opportunity to accelerate digital health adoption across urban and rural geographies and integrate it into everyday healthcare interactions.

Among the key features of the upgraded platform is seamless access to ABDM-enabled services, including ABHA creation, digital health record management, and Scan & Share functionality for quick and paperless registration at healthcare facilities. The app also introduces digitisation of medical records, where artificial intelligence is used to convert uploaded prescriptions, lab reports, and medical documents in PDF or image formats into structured digital data. This enables the creation of personalised health dashboards based on user medical history.

The platform further enhances user engagement through integrated health monitoring tools, allowing individuals to track vitals, set personalised reminders, and monitor health goals. It also supports syncing with wearable devices to track parameters such as steps, calories, heart rate, and glucose levels, thereby enabling continuous health monitoring.

Aarogya Setu 2.0 also introduces financial transparency features, including the PM-JAY Wallet, which provides users with a clear overview of healthcare coverage, total balance, amount utilised, and family-wise consumption under Ayushman Bharat PM-JAY. Similarly, dedicated modules for CAPF beneficiaries provide policy details, covered family members, and reimbursement information, while private insurance details such as balances and claims are also integrated into the platform.

In addition, the application offers critical healthcare discovery and emergency support features. Users can locate nearby healthcare facilities, access real-time blood unit availability through e-RaktKosh integration, and book ambulances for urgent medical needs. The Scan & Share feature further enables seamless sharing of health profiles, records, and payment-related information to improve service delivery at healthcare facilities.

The app also includes a family management system that allows users to add and manage multiple family members under a single account, eliminating the need for separate logins. Medication reminder functionality helps users adhere to prescribed treatment schedules by enabling customised alerts based on dosage, frequency, and timing.

Further, the platform strengthens healthcare accessibility through a GPS-enabled "Nearby Health Services" feature, which helps users identify hospitals, clinics, diagnostic centres, and doctors within a defined radius of 5 to 50 kilometres. It also integrates a dedicated search system for PM-JAY empanelled hospitals, allowing users to filter facilities by state, district, specialty, pin code, or name to access cashless treatment options.

Finally, the "My Consent" feature ensures strong data privacy and user control by allowing individuals to manage permissions for sharing their health information. Users can track consent requests, approvals, denials, pending authorisations, and expired permissions, ensuring that data is shared only with explicit user approval in alignment with India's digital health governance framework under the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission.
