United Airlines plane narrowly misses drone while landing at major US airport

  • A United Airlines flight carrying 106 passengers and five crew members had a close call with a drone while landing at Newark Liberty International Airport on Friday.
  • The pilot of the Boeing 737, arriving from Key West, Florida, reported nearly striking a circular drone, approximately three feet wide, flying about 100 feet below their aircraft.
  • Around the same time, a pilot on a United Express flight also reported spotting a drone at approximately 2,000 feet while approaching Newark.
  • The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) is currently investigating the incident, which occurred around 5:20 p.m.
