Kota Kinabalu: The Unity Government led by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim will remain strong, said Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Seri Dr Jeffrey Kitingan.

Jeffrey, also Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) Deputy Chairman, said the situation now is better and unlike under the previous administrations.

“I see this (Federal) Government is stronger and supported by all communities. It is inclusive and diverse…and I think it will stay,” he said after the special screening of the film “Tribesman: The Last Red Hunter”, here, Wednesday.

“GRS fully supports the Unity Government and the situation now is unlike four years ago. The situation now is different as the Unity Government includes everybody.”

When asked about the six state elections in the peninsula, Jeffrey said he is not interested in commenting about them.

“We still have two more years in Sabah, and we are going to finish it (the term),” he said.

Previously, it was reported that Anwar had challenged those who want to topple the Federal Government to move a vote of no confidence against him during the coming May 22 Parliament sitting.

He said he needed to stop talking about a conspiracy to topple the Unity Government, which could sabotage and destabilise the federal administration.

He also warned his detractors not to sabotage the Federal Government.

He promised that the Unity Government would take action accordingly without compromise.

Anwar was also reported saying that the Unity Government is still strong with the support of 148 MPs and stressed the legitimacy of the Government is intact.
