
Kota Kinabalu: Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS), through the Faculty of Islamic Studies (FIS), signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Al-Madinah International University (MEDIU) in a brief ceremony during the 25th UMS Convocation Ceremony.
The MoU between the two universities focuses on cooperation in research and development, publications, and international seminars, student mobility programs, teaching and learning, consulting, and other aspects related to education.
At the ceremony, MEDIU was represented by the Deputy Chief Executive of the Research and Innovation Division, Prof. Dr. Asma Abdul Rahman, while UMS was represented by the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Datuk Dr. Kasim Hj Mansor.
The event was witnessed by the Head of State, Tun Datuk Seri Panglima (Dr.) Haji Juhar Datuk Haji Mahiruddin, who also serves as the Chancellor of UMS and Chairman of the Board of Directors of UMS, Datuk Seri Panglima Abdul Rahman Dahlan.
MEDIU is an Islamic university operated as a virtual (online) non-profit organization. It was established with the goal of providing facilities for anyone worldwide seeking knowledge.
The 25th UMS Convocation Ceremony celebrated a total of 4,236 graduates over four days from December 11 to 14, 2023. Among them, 106 received Doctor of Philosophy degrees, and 307 received Master’s degrees during the first session.
