KENINGAU: The unstable political situation at the Federal level us what made Sabah the opportunity consolidate under the Gabungan Rakyat Sabah.

Deputy Chief Minister Parti Solidariti Tanah Airku (Star) President Datuk Seri Dr Jeffrey G Kitingan said Sabah needed political strength to explore more lucrative internal outcomes to help Sabahans.

“At the same time, GRS will continue to obtain various rights in MA63 even though the Federation is not able to fulfill that responsibility immediately,” said Jeffrey, who is also Member of Parliament for Keningau.

Dr Jeffrey, who is also State Minister of Agriculture and Fisheries, said the coalition also enabled Sabah to explore lucrative resources from nature conservation and carbon credit trade.

According to Dr Jeffrey, Sabah should optimize its own political power because the political turmoil at Federal level shows that Sabah’s interests are no longer the main focus.

“In the past few years, Malaysia has undergone several changes of Prime Minister,” he said when launching the State Level Star Parliamentary General Election Machinery at the Keningau Community Hall.

He said Sabah needs funding from internal and federal sources to develop various facilities for the people in order to improve the standard and well-being of life.

Meanwhile Deputy President Datuk Ellron Alfred Angin, who is also Minister of Youth and Sports, said the party has 66 divisions and 400,000 members.
