Amongst Malaysia's highly sought after motorcycles is the QJMotor SRV250, a 2 cyclinder, V-twin engine powered cruiser producing 27.5 hp at 9,000 rpm with a maximum torque of 23.0 Nm at 7,000rpm. Chinese motorcycle manufacturer, Qianjiang Motorcycle which is also the parent company of the Benelli brand and QJMotor, became a development partner of Harley-Davidson for the upcoming entry-level model for Asian markets. Which reflects greatly in the SRV250, The lines and the V-twin engine strongly reminisces the Harley Sportster models.
Nuts Wheels, a renowned Malaysian company specializing in custom motorcycles, has recently taken on a unique project to bring a customer's vision to life. The owner approached Joash Low, affectionately known as Jo, with a clear vision in mind: to replicate the iconic aesthetic look of a Harley Davidson Sportster. Intrigued by the challenge, Jo sets out to create a personalized and unique machine that would not only meet the owner's expectations but also incorporate functionality, aesthetics, and quality.

To start the customization process, the owner provided a sample picture of the desired look and communicated their ideas and preferences. Through in-depth discussions, Jo enhanced the owner's concept, ensuring that the bike would encompass their personality and style. With a focus on functionality, aesthetics, and quality, they aimed to create a stunning result that would go beyond the initial vision.
Several new parts and accessories were installed to bring the owner's vision to life. These included a headlight cowling, bar end mirrors, a wrapped/stickered fuel tank, powder-coated engine casings, a short megaphone exhaust, a side license plate, and relocated rear turn signals. Each addition was carefully selected to enhance the overall design and improve the bike's performance.

Approaching the customization process systematically, Jo divided it into three sections: fabricated/custom parts, color scheme, and off-the-shelf parts and accessories. The fabrication of custom parts was given priority due to its time-consuming nature. Once complete, the parts were moved to the next phase, which involved determining the color scheme and carrying out the required painting. Finally, the off-the-shelf accessories were meticulously installed to complement the overall design.
Throughout the project, Jo encountered challenges that tested his skills and expertise. One significant hurdle arose during the powder coating of the engine casings. This delicate process required utmost precision and attention to detail. Each casing had to be removed with care, and all screws and bolts were meticulously marked, segregated, and stored. Reassembly demanded strict adherence to proper techniques, including correctly placing gaskets and tightening them to the recommended torque. Overcoming these challenges was crucial to achieving the desired results and ensuring the bike's performance and longevity.

Reflecting on the motorcycle's design and performance after customization, Jo expressed his satisfaction. The compact design, a departure from the stock model, exudes a distinctive aesthetic appeal. The modified exhaust system significantly improved the bike's overall torque, providing a more exhilarating riding experience. He believes that the customized motorcycle perfectly embodies the owner's personality and style, capturing their vision and creating a unique expression of their individuality.

Drawing from his extensive experience, Jo emphasized the importance of striking a balance between aesthetics and performance in custom motorcycle design. While a visually stunning bike can turn heads, it must also deliver a satisfying riding experience. Understanding this, he advises his clients based on his expertise and ensures they get the best of both worlds. Nuts Wheels strives to create motorcycles that not only look impressive but also perform exceptionally, delivering an exceptional ride to their valued customers.
As Nuts Wheels continues to take on exciting projects and bring customers' visions to life, Jo's dedication to crafting custom motorcycles that blend aesthetics and performance remains unwavering. With each masterpiece that rolls out of their workshop, he solidify his reputation as pioneers in the custom motorcycle industry, leaving his mark on the Malaysian biking scene.
