Kota Kinabalu: It is unwise to deny Sabah autonomy to import rice independently, Star Sabah said.
Its Api-Api division chief Md Rafee Md Shakir said the Federal Government should take note of the recent price hike which had become a burden to Sabahans.
“In spite of the RM950 subsidy per tonne, the increase in the cost of rice itself does not in anyway help the common households.
“May I remind the Federal Minister of Agriculture and Food Security (MAFS), Datuk Seri Mohamad Sabu, that Sabah has eight out of 10 of the poorest districts in Malaysia.”
