The Road to Glory is an upcoming historical romance C-drama starring Zhang Linghe and Lin Yun. The story follows Xiao Li (Zhang Linghe), the head of Yongzhou’s East Market, who unexpectedly rescues Wen Yu (Lin Yun), a princess of a fallen kingdom on a mission to secure military aid. Despite their vastly different backgrounds, the two develop feelings for each other as Xiao Li helps Wen Yu on her arduous journey to restore her kingdom.

Adapted from Fei Wo Cun’s novel of the same name, Overdo is a Republican-era Chinese drama starring Zhang Linghe and Wang Churan. The story follows Murong Qing Yi (Zhang Linghe), a warlord’s son who suffers abuse before being rescued by Ren Su Su (Wang Churan). Her family pays a devastating price for helping him. Years later, they reunite and fall in love, until Su Su fakes her death to protect others. When she returns three years later, she is engaged to Qing Yi’s own elder brother. The 33-episode drama has cleared censorship and is expected to premiere on iQIYI and Tencent Video in 2026.

Exploring the Future: The Answer is Earth is a three-part documentary series co-produced by Warner Bros. Discovery and WildAid. The series follows actor Zhang Linghe, a former electrical engineering student, as he returns to his home province of Jiangsu to explore China’s green energy transformation firsthand. The famed actor visits wind farms, solar bases, and ecological dredging sites across four cities. And he will also work alongside engineers to uncover the hard science, human stories, and real-world impact behind the nation’s push toward a low-carbon, sustainable future.

A coming-of-age C-drama starring Zhang Linghe and Yuan Bingyan, Our Generation is set in the 90s where a group of friends grow up in a mining town. The 28-episode series is based on Sheng Li’s novel Loving You, Is the Best Thing I’ll Ever Do. Zhang Linghe plays He Suye, a gentle and dedicated traditional Chinese medicine doctor from a medical family. He treats Shen Xifan (Xu Ruohan), a hotel manager suffering from severe insomnia after a painful breakup. The two soon discover they live in the same neighbourhood, and chance encounters spark a healing romance rooted in mutual understanding and support.

Pursuit of Jade
And of course, we have the C-drama that everyone is talking about, and one that gave Zhang Linghe the fame he deserves. The historical romance follows Fan Changyu, a butcher’s daughter, who encounters Xie Zheng (Zhang Linghe), a fallen nobleman hiding his identity as Marquis Wu’an while plotting revenge for a 16-year-old blood feud. Orphaned and fighting to keep her family’s home, Changyu proposes a marriage of convenience to Xie Zheng. Their fake marriage slowly blossoms into genuine love, but when war tears them apart, Changyu takes up her butcher’s knife and charges onto the battlefield to find her husband, while Xie Zheng reclaims his title to protect his country and love.
