KOTA KINABALU: The upcoming election is seen as a significant test for Sabah, with Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) Youth moving to strengthen its grassroots machinery ahead of the state polls.

A special meeting chaired by Datuk Jonnybone Kurum on Monday agreed to appoint GRS Youth Coordinators at every parliamentary level as part of efforts to streamline preparations.

He described the election as the first true test for Sabahans since the state gained greater autonomy from national parties that had shaped its politics for decades.

The meeting also highlighted the importance of safeguarding stability against external pressures that could undermine unity at the grassroots level.

Discussions touched on federal funding issues at village level, with assurances that the state government would continue supporting community leaders without reliance on federal allocations.

GRS Youth also finalised plans for the official launch of its election machinery and pledged to uphold Sabah’s dignity and future in the face of the coming contest.
