KUALA LUMPUR – The upcoming MyGOV Malaysia superapp, which uses MyDigital ID for digital authentication, is built to international security standards and does not store personal data, Digital Minister Gobind Singh Deo assured the Dewan Rakyat today.
The minister explained that all services integrated into the app must undergo thorough security testing, data protection compliance checks, risk assessments, and system audits before they are made available to the public.
“MyGOV Malaysia remains a service-delivery platform without retaining any personal data. Integration is done via API (application programming interface), and all data stays securely within each agency’s own system,” he said.
Gobind’s comments came in response to a question from Jimmy Puah Wee Tse (PH–Tebrau), who raised concerns about safeguarding users’ personal information from third-party access.
The minister further clarified that the app’s operations are continuously monitored to ensure compliance with national laws, including the Personal Data Protection Act 2010 and the Cybersecurity Act 2024.
Since its beta launch on August 16, the app has already recorded 113,000 downloads, he said.
In its first phase, MyGOV Malaysia integrates 36 services from 13 government agencies, including the Road Transport Department (JPJ), Immigration Department, National Registration Department (NRD), Social Welfare Department, and MySejahtera.
Gobind also revealed that another 16 services are in the process of being integrated, covering driving licence renewals, road tax renewals, and traffic summons payments for both JPJ and the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM).
Future features will include payments for utility bills, zakat deductions, local authorities’ summons, and taxes.
Additionally, the app will allow for applications for replacement MyKad via the National Registration Department (JPN), unclaimed money checks through the eGUMIS system, and access to the Finance Ministry's Manfaat portal to help citizens verify eligibility for government aid and initiatives. - November 18, 2025
