KUALA LUMPUR – DAP has announced four candidates who will contest parliamentary seats in Johor in the upcoming general election (GE15).
During a party event this evening, DAP secretary-general Anthony Loke said the party will be fielding seven parliamentary candidates in the state, comprising four male and three female leaders.
The list of Johor candidates announced are as follows:
P154 Mersing – Fatin Zulaikha Zaidi
P152 Kluang – Wong Shu Qi
P164 Kulai – Teo Nie Ching
P162 Iskandar Puteri – Liew Chin Tong
Loke noted that Fatin is the third female Malay candidate to be announced by the party, following the fielding of Young Syefura Othman in Bentong and Syerleena Abdul Rashid in Bukit Bendera.
“DAP is a party that gives priority to female leaders,” Loke said.
Johor Baru-native Fatin, 29, has served as special officer to Johor Raya assemblyman Liow Cai Tung since 2018.

DAP’s Kluang incumbent Wong Shu Qi will be defending the seat after winning the constituency in 2018 with a majority of 23,053 votes out of the total 81,841 ballots.
Teo Nie Ching will be seeking a third term in the Kulai parliamentary seat which she first won in 2013.
Meanwhile, Johor DAP chief Liew Chin Tong is confirmed to be replacing veteran leader Lim Kit Siang as the candidate for Iskandar Puteri.
Previously, Liew – who is a former deputy defence minister – won the Kluang parliamentary seat in 2013, while he failed to unseat current MCA president Datuk Seri Wee Ka Siong as Ayer Hitam MP in 2018.
DAP had previously announced that Paloh assemblyman Sheikh Umar Bagharib Ali would stand in Ayer Hitam, former Skudai assemblyman Tan Hong Pin would contest Bakri, while incumbent Pang Hok Liong would defend Labis. – The Vibes, October 30, 2022
