KUALA LUMPUR – The Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) today appointed Noor Azman Rahman as its new secretary-general, replacing Mohd Saifuddin Abu Bakar.
This confirms The Vibes’ earlier report that Azman, who is the former vice-president of Melaka United Football Association, would be the next sec-gen chosen by FAM president Datuk Hamidin Mohd Amin.
Azman is currently serving as FAM president coordinator and will take on his new role effective September 1.
Previously, he was also appointed as Musa secretary from 2015 to 2018. In 2020, he was once again elected as the association’s vice president until 2023.
Azman has also been actively involved in several FAM standing committees, including the FAM media committee (2010-2013), FAM futsal and beach soccer committee (2014-2018), and FAM competition committee (2018-2019).
In club football, he was Melaka’s team manager in 2013, assistant team manager in 2014, and assistant manager for the national futsal team from 2014 to 2017.
“All the best carrying out your duties with professionalism and trust to glorify national football,” FAM said in a statement today.
On August 23, Saifuddin’s resignation was accepted by FAM during their executive committee meeting for the 2021-2025 term.
Saifuddin would still be resuming his role as match commissioner for the International Federation of Association Football and Asian Football Confederation. – The Vibes, August 27, 2022
