UPDATED 1 April 2026: Added local availability information as announced earlier today by the company.

Nothing has officially introduced two new midrange smartphones previously codenamed “Bellsprout”, comprising Phone (4a) and the Phone (4a) Pro; the company also unveiled Headphone (a), a new over-ear wireless headphones designed as the mid-range counterpart of Headphone (1).

Nothing Phone (4a) Series

Starting with the build, the Phone (4a) Pro features a metal unibody design that, perhaps slightly uncharacteristic of the brand, has a more muted design – with only a small portion around the cameras and the Glyph Matrix LED showing its innards. Meanwhile, the standard Phone (4a) retains the transparent rear panel that reveals internal components, and it sticks to the seven-zone ‘Glyph Bar’ constructed from 63 mini-LEDs to display notifications and statuses.

Both phones share a similar camera setup, with a 50MP main camera (with the Pro model using Sony LYT700c sensor), a 50MP 3.5x periscope telephoto lens, alongside an 8MP ultrawide sensor and a 32MP front camera. The Phone (4a) features a camera system consisting of a 50MP main sensor, a 50MP 3.5x periscope lens, an ultra-wide camera and a 32MP front camera. The hardware are coupled with TrueLens Engine 4 with support for what Nothing calls “Ultra XDR photos” and “4K Ultra XDR video.”

On the performance front, the Phone (4a) Pro uses the Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 chipset with 8GB or 12GB LPDDR5X memory, while the Phone (4a) runs on the Snapdragon 7s Gen 4 chipset paired with 8GB or 12GB LPDDR4X memory instead; storage, while upgraded, is still using the relatively old UFS 3.1 standard. Both devices also feature the same 5080mAh battery with 50W fast charging support (oddly, Indian models get larger 5400mAh cells instead, while the international models pretty much don’t get any measurable increase over the Phone (3a)).

The displays also get an upgrade: both devices now sport 1.5K-class AMOLED displays, with the Pro model running on a 6.83-inch 2800 x 1260, 144Hz AMOLED panel, while the vanilla model gets a slightly smaller 6.78-inch 2720 x 1224, 120Hz AMOLED panel instead. Brightness figures are similar, from 800 nits of peak panel brightness, to 1600 nits of HBM brightness, all the way to 5000 and 4500 nits of HDR peak brightness, respectively. Above them are the Corning Gorilla Glass 7i to protect the device from dings and scratches.

The smartphones run on Nothing OS 4.1 based on Android 16, which introduces interface refinements, expanded widgets and AI-powered tools such as Essential Search, Essential Memory and Playground for creating “no-code” (in other words, vibe-coded) Essential Apps. The company also promises 3 years’ worth of OS updates, with a much longer 6-year security update commitments.

Meanwhile, the Nothing Headphone (a) is a lightweight 310g over-ear wireless headset with memory foam ear cushions and IP52 protection, which is good for protection against sweat and rainfalls. The headphones support up to a claimed 135 hours of listening time with ANC disabled, which it boasts “outlasting the market leader by half”; when the battery does eventually run dry, a five-minute quick charge can still provide up to five hours of playback.

Like Headphone (1), Headphone (a) features more tactility than what you’ll usually find on the market, with physical controls integrated into the ear cups. Its 40mm titanium-coated driver supports Hi-Resolution Audio Wireless with the LDAC codec, while Adaptive ANC comes with three levels of noise reduction and a transparency mode, all of which can be customized via the Nothing X app, where an 8-band EQ is available for advanced users. For calls, a three-microphone system with AI voice isolation improves call clarity.

Availability

The Nothing Phone (4a) will be available in black, white, blue and pink, while the Phone (4a) Pro will be offered in black, silver and pink; both models feature the same 12+256GB variant costing RM1,999 and RM2,299 respectively; as for Headphone (a), it will be available in black, white, and pink, at RM699 apiece. Pre-orders for all products announced begins April 2nd, followed by general local availability starting from April 10th.

Pokdepinion: The Phone (4a) Pro’s design is pretty surprising to me.
