PENAMPANG: Upko president Datuk Ewon Benedick (pic) said on Friday that the party will contest 25 seats in the 17th Sabah Election, with him leading the slate while defending Kadamaian.
He said the candidates would campaign on the party’s "Sabah First"agenda, anchored on the rights outlined in the Malaysia Agreement 1963 and the Federal Constitution.
Ewon said he expects all candidates to uphold principled leadership and meet clear performance benchmarks in serving the people.
He added that Upko would continue pressing for the implementation of Sabah’s 40 per cent entitlement to strengthen infrastructure, economic development and poverty eradication efforts.
Tuaran MP Datuk Seri Madius Tangau, who is also Upko’s honorary president, will also contest in the upcoming Sabah election for the Tamparuli seat.
