Upko's entry into GRS will strengthen political stability: CM

PENAMPANG: Upko’s entry into Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) will further strengthen political stability in the State and enhance cooperation among local parties to develop Sabah, said Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor.

Speaking at Upko’s 32nd Anniversary Celebration and 17th Triennial Delegates Conference at KDCA Unity Centre Hall on Sunday night, Hajiji said the GRS Supreme Council approved Upko’s admission on June 8, welcoming the positive development in Sabah’s political landscape with an open heart.

He noted that assured political stability would make it easier for the State Government to focus on the people’s development agenda, economic prosperity, and infrastructure development across the State.

Hajiji also expressed appreciation for the support extended by Upko president Datuk Ewon Benedick—who serves as Deputy Chief Minister III and Minister of Industrial Development, Entrepreneurship and Transport—in driving the Sabah Maju Jaya (SMJ) 2.0 development plan.

He called on all GRS component parties to strengthen unity and work closely together under the coalition to ensure a prosperous future and proud legacy for future generations of Sabahans.
