KOTA KINABALU: United Progressive Kinabalu Organisation (Upko) has called on the Federal Attorney-General not to appeal the High Court’s decision affirming Sabah’s constitutional right to 40 per cent of federal revenue derived from the state.

Upko secretary-general Senator Datuk Nelson W Angang (pic) said the ruling by the Kota Kinabalu High Court reaffirmed the rule of law and the enduring principles of the Malaysia Agreement 1963.

He said the decision was a moral and historic victory for the people of Sabah, who have long awaited fair recognition of their constitutional rights under Article 112D of the Federal Constitution.

Upko also expressed gratitude to the Sabah Law Society for its courage in pursuing the case, describing it as a crucial step toward a more equitable economic relationship between Sabah and the Federal Government.

Nelson said the party remains committed to ensuring that future negotiations under the Malaysia Agreement genuinely reflect the interests of the people, not merely symbolic gestures.
