TELUPID: Upko Youth has emphasised that the national flag should remain a symbol of unity and togetherness, rather than a source of division.
Its Chief, Felix Joseph Saang, said current debates surrounding the flag could be resolved through better approaches without turning the matter into a street issue or open polemic.
“The relevant parties should be given space to carry out investigations. Let’s not act hastily,” he said in a statement.
“If a mistake was made, there are proper ways to offer correction and guidance. If it was done intentionally, then existing laws are in place to take appropriate action.”Felix said prolonging the matter would only raise tensions and potentially disrupt public order.
“We want this issue to be resolved quickly and handed over to the authorities for investigation and closure.
“Our focus should be to ensure that the flag continues to be a symbol of unity among the people, not a cause for conflict,” he stressed.
He added that as a youth leader, it is his duty to express concern over matters that could threaten public harmony.
“This is a sensitive issue. If not handled firmly and wisely, it could lead to further disputes and even spread elsewhere,” he said.
