UPM practical trainee who died in water tower confirmed to have drowned

SHAH ALAM, June 20 - The cause of death of a 24-year-old man, who was found dead in a Sungai Buloh water tank on Tuesday, is drowning, said Sungai Buloh district police chief Mohd Hafiz Muhammad Nor.

He added that the victim, a Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) student undergoing industrial training, drowned in the tank while performing maintenance works at the Saujana Perdana water tower.

The case has been classified as sudden death, following official post mortem results, he said.

“The body was sent to Al Sultan Abdullah Hospital’s forensic unit in Puncak Alam for post mortem to identify the cause of death,” Hafiz said in a statement today.

He added that police received a call about the incident at 11.53am on Tuesday, and Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) personnel helped retrieve the body from the tank.
